The Somali and Afar Clan Clash

5c61fd46Somali and Afar Clans Clashed At the border between the Somali and Afar regions. Federal Affairs Minister dismisses claims that the Federal police have backed one of the clashing forces.

In this clash on Saturday, April 19, 2014 properties are damaged and a certain number of human causalities are known to have occurred. The clash is between the Somali’s Hawaya clan and the Afars. The clash has also hindered the transport vehicles between Ethiopia and the Djibouti.

It indicated that the security forces of the two regions and the Federal police force have collaboratively helped in peace keeping work in the areas. It is said that the clash subsides after Saturday, April 19, 2014. The Federal Affairs Minister said that it has sent a delegation to assess the damage at the area.
The main reason for the clash is said to be a conflict due to access to resources. Other reasons are also mentioned that triggered the clash. It is also said that some of the local authorities have played their role in aggravating the conflict.
