Court sentenced four Ginbot 7 military wing members to prison
The federal high court’s 19th criminal bench has sentenced four Ginbot 7 military wing members to prison. In its verdict the court has sentenced Birara Chebude, Fantawe Jember and Aleye Getenet to four years and five months imprisonment and Tadesse Belay to 16 years in prison.
The charge document tells that Tadesse Belay was caught leading the trio (Birara, Fentaw and Aleye) through the border into Ethiopia from Eritera. Ginbot 7 is a group labeled by the government as a terrorist group along with Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) and Oromo Liberation Front (OLF).
Tadesse Belay who is alleged to be recruited by Ginbot 7 group two years ago was serving as deputy of a small military unit. Tadesse Belay is also said to have taken three military trainings under Ginbot 7.
